The American University in Bulgaria has begun the expansion of the complex of its Skaptopara III campus. With the construction of buildings "B" and "C", the capacity will be increased by several hundred additional places to accommodate students. This illustrates AUBG's ambition to provide quality education combined with excellent living conditions to its students from over 40 countries.
The new wings will offer many amenities such as air-conditioned rooms, common spaces, meeting rooms and kitchens, as well as "green" roofs and areas. In addition, they will have an underground parking lot, as well as parking spaces with charging stations for electric cars. The new units will be built in accordance with the most demanding energy efficiency standards and will be certified according to energy class "A" - the highest standard for new construction.
For the foundations of the buildings, a high-quality SBS waterproofing system made of IKO Powerflex 4 T/F ICE 8 m, membranes with combined polyester - fiberglass reinforcement and increased resistance and flexibility were preferred. The layer for protection and drainage of the waterproofing system on the vertical foundation walls is of a 500-gram root-resistant HDPE membrane IsoDrain, which toughness and compressive strength are significant. Armormat is already gradually delivering the first 8,000 sq.m. of the materials for the waterproofing works on the site.
